I actually discovered you cant really disable the pcv on the mini N14 engine. It actually uses the crankcase vacuum to help draw out the oil from the turbo. If the vacuum isn’t there, the oil will get pushed into the intake charge pipe. So it’ll get a catch can

Plus one karma for doing your own research.

Sounds like this is set up like diesels. But here's the thing. The manufacturers want them to be as wasteful as possible.

Adding Snake Oil will not only decrease friction, but reduce the loss of oil in such areas. I don't know if it's enough to keep the oil COMPLETELY out of the intake, but diesel owners are reporting almost complete elimination of oil consumption.

Thought I'd toss that into the chat stream.

Yeah the turbo oil supply is a bit different than usual. Im not completely sure, but I heard that the supply line is the bottom and the oil leaving is the top. Not sure how that works?? I guess I’ll find out for sure when I pull it apart

Got the engine pulled apart today. Found the problem! A melted piston. Been quite a few of these N14 engines that did it. Fortunately the cylinder wall is ok so I can rebuild it

Still waiting on parts. They were originally delayed for about a month but a couple days ago I got an email saying they will be slightly earlier than that. So I don’t yet

Yup! It is on the road! Its about 3/4 broke in right now. One potential problem is I had to remove the cat because of all the oil going through it, so the groove may or may not work. Don’t know if I’ll stay catless or not yet

My apologies for being gone so long. Theres a big stressful situation in my corner of the world right now. But I finally managed to find some time at the same time I thought about it to install the grooved throttle body in the mini. But, its not going to work. As soon as I started it, it reved up quite high. I quickly shut it off so it didn’t redine which I hate having to do on a turbo engine. But then I started it back up and put it in gear and let the clutch out some to bring the revs down until the computer can take over. It did then and it would rev up to about 4000rpms then either fuel or spark would get cut until it reached about 2000. (Guessing as I can’t remember exactly). My boost gauge would show very little vacuum so that told me the groove is letting in too much air. Verified all my connections were good but it still did it. So I had to put the original back on for it to be happy. Is this the first one that the groove doesn’t physically work? The throttle body is a little different design from what we normally see. The throttle plate kinda turns at a slant of sorts.

Welcome back, and Happy New Year, Vernon!
would you be so kind as to refresh our memory: who grooved your TB?
that over-rev condition sounds like a major vacuum leak, or a groove cut in the wrong place, preventing the throttle from closing to it's natural idle position

Pictures of this would help to diagnose via internet...
