The long search for a more reliable truck is over and here it is! (Pictures attached below)
I'll be collecting data for mileage, power & emissions the best i can but what else would be good for us all to know? I'm thinking...
Before & after:
* temperature readings of exhaust manifold, cat converter.
*vaccum reading
*fuel trims at idle, 55mph cruising & full throttle
*lots of potential data using my torque pro app!
*Horsepower runs/0-60 times
*A compression map if i can!
What do we want to see guys?
Driving an hour back home tonight in 38*F weather cruising at 60mph we got 17-18mpg

so if You're going to groove this truck, I'd say start with a vacuum reading and compression survey before, then again after. If the compression is uneven enough to warrant an RVS treatment, you'll have great numbers to verify its (and the Groove's) efficacy for sceptics.
I'm not so sure about temperatures of exhaust and cat...more complete combustion should raise temps, even as we reduce fuel consumption, right? before and after mileage (or maybe runtime?) is what really matters..
we needs to find a way to calculate BSFC without dynos...there's the real data.

Test compression! It’ll be interesting to see what this simple part does...right?

Ill pick up a compression tester soon. Here are some pictures from how i did my pcv delete. This style pcv valve is like a key, you turn it into the intake manifold and it locks in place. From there is the tube running to the intake manifold. I placed a vaccum cap on both ends. Is this the best way to do it for this style? I also swapped my paper air filter with a Spectre HPR9401 to let the hemi breath better!

The filter oil can end up coating your MAF’s sensing wires. Keep an eye on that when doing your maintenance.
If memory serves, there was a debate a while back about paper vs re-useable filters, and I seem to recall that it was found that paper filters ended up being better for our purposes, but with technology constantly improving, this may have changed. I’d start out with a stock filter to get a benchmark, and then give it a go with one of these “high flow” “non-restrictive” “performance” add-ons.
One thing at a time...

Thanks Greg,
As far as i can see i dont have a MAF sensor in the intake tract but i do have a IAT sensor. Ive got my benchmark data with the paper filter, now time for the spectre filter testing. Will be ordering a used throttle online soon for grooving!
Paper filter data : 18.0mpg highway on dash /308hp on torque app
With pcv capped: 20.0mpg highway on dash/ hp not recorded yet
Spectre filter and pcv capped: results soon

One thing to keep in mind: when the ECU detects more air that’s been metered, it will increase injector pulse durations until the o2 sensors are happy again.
If the groove waveform does indeed end up bigger/stronger, you may need to intervene electronically at the o2 sensors with an EFIE.
I have yet to put mine on, but since I relocated my MAP sensor (which I’ve also modified with an enhancer circuit), my mileage displayed in the instrument cluster has gone down, even though in reality with pen and paper it has stayed where it was or even gone up slightly (which was a very pleasant surprise over the winter, when it usually has dropped). I fully expect the EFIE to correct the display, or further enhance the gains I’m seeing.

Grooved our truck tonight. Here are some photos. I'll edit this post to add more info/ data screenshots from my torque app soon! 2 more videos for my YouTube channel. This Hemi has way more power and dryer vent exhaust!

DATA:
Pre groove throttle position at idle 13.3%
After 11.8%
Before Intake manifold pressure at idle 4.4psi
After 3.8psi
More to come!

that's a good indicator of a successful groove that will bring gains in mileage/run time: the throttle angle is lower and intake manifold pressure has dropped...and those make sense. what about idle speeds, pre/post? has it dropped a hair, maybe 50 rpm? I bet it has. and I'll bet the exhaust note is a bit deeper too.
will your app give you ignition timing? look into that before you open up spark plug gaps.

Glad to see improvements in your Ram's performance, Michael! I noticed the factory chamfer on the downstream edge of the plate...interesting. I see that as giving a slight delay for the plate engagement into the Groove's leading edge, relative to the plate's rotation off idle. It's also reminiscent of Ron's throttle plate shaping technique on the big GM VORTEC DBW TB's. Wonder why Dodge did that, they didn't just do that for kicks...
