Ive done 2 fords and they both have this plastic gasket with comb like fingers that are right in the path of the airflow. Im wondering if these interfere with the groove phenomneon and should be removed or can they remail in place?

Hi Bryan,

If you can remove them without damaging the gasket, I would recommend it.

If it is easier to make a replacement gasket then go that route.

Anything that disrupts the airflow after the groove is going to degrade the effect.

Rather interesting that they would do something like that to "line up" the air flow. :)

These little tabs can be safely removed with a pair of needle-nose pliers. Just bend them back and forth and they come off rather easily,

What remains are little stubs that can be sanded or cut out if you wish. No need to make a new gasket at all!
