I have a 2014 f150 with a 5.0L engine. The throttle plate from the air cleaner side opens in at the top not the bottom. Does it matter if the groove is cut on the top of the throttle body on the intake manifold side? The first picture is the way the TB is oriented in the truck. The second is upside down and the side facing the intake manifold.. I'm inquiring about cutting the groove in the lower part of the second picture.
Thank you

Hi, Todd!

Nice to see you here!

The Groove ALWAYS goes in the area where the throttle plate turns toward the engine.

That should be clear in the training materials! If not, then I'll have to work on that!

Enjoy!

Hi Ron
Thank you for your quick response. I'll post pics when finished cutting the groove whether good, bad or ugly..

The way I think of things in terms of groove placement is this:
The throttle plate passes over where the Groove lives in a way such that the plate focuses more airflow on/in to the Groove.
If it were placed in such a way that the plate pushed air away as it opened, it wouldn’t be nearly as effective, right?

Here are some pics of the groove. The business card slipped once and I had to reposition it. Between the good, the bad and the ugly, I'd say ugly. Are you supposed to have aluminum chips all over you when completed? :)
