Don reports an increase in take off, lower RPM's and car didn't need to be down shifted to climb a hill he climbs daily on the way to work. He's always had to in the past . I will add/post gas mileage as soon as I get it.

Thanks again, Bill!

Obviously I'm very interested in this one, as it's close to my '85 Subie. This one has big tires, sits high! Mine is FWD 5spd EA82 engine. It's significant that he has a power increasse as described since the big tires increase engine loading. But, those big meats also give more speed per RPM's--and that would play well with the increase in low end torque.

Sure would love to see any pics of this carb and engine! :cheer: Is this another Weber DGEV? Glad to hear of the results! You're giving me a ton of encouragement here, Bill, thanks!

OK so today I decided to order a Weber DGEV 32/36 w/ manifold adaptor and xtra essentials for my 85 Subaru GL wagon. The stock Hitachi feedback carb has been running erratically. The ECM and shift up lights simply quit lighting up over a week ago. Then yesterday it all decided to work again. That's OK for now as the power and driveability goes in the trash when the ECM quits.

I will first get the Weber installed and running well, then Groove it when I can.

Last week I operated on assumption that exhaust had gotten partly blocked, the 5 yr-old muffler rattled as if full of junk when smacked. Had a chain muffler shop replace the muffler, and got a peek at the upstream side of rear converter, and it looked OK, the ceramic substrate was intact and clean.

That's when the "light" came on about my ECM lights being off...

So again I thank you Bill for all your successful Subaru Groove posts, I'm going to follow in your tracks now...

Very Good Bill! ;)

I ordered an altitude jetting kit for my new DGEV on the Subie. I will try leaner settings, mine is too rich out of the box. But I'm at 4500-5000 ft altitude. Power increase is Something Else. I'm wondering if I will be able to go one step leaner than otherwise on jetting once it's Grooved, but I'll see how that plays out.

Congrats on excellent results w/ this Subaru! ;)
