Howdy, I just came in from installing a new Weber DGEV 32/36 kit from Redline Weber on my '85 Subie wagon.

IT's literally out-of the box spec., I only adjusted idle speed after warming it up. Started raining so fine tune will be tomorrow. Need to see how close the idle low speed jetting is, it may be sorta rich. No Groove yet, but that definitely will follow!

Changes in smog check reg's here have made this posibble. I've suffered with the OEM feedback Hitachi 2 bbl for 9 yrs now. No More...I only drove 'round the block, but the difference is quite aparrent, right from the box! And this DGEV is Groove-able, as 4WD Bill in Oregon has already proven.

I've owned 2 Japanese-made cars since 1989, a Mazda and this Subaru. Smog reg's here motivated me to look into power/efficiency mod's OTHER than carb. swaps. And I've learned a bunch--especially since I learned of the Groove and met Ron. In a way I owe my quest for info. to the local smog laws. I feel like I've gone full-circle now, this is my first Weber swap.

More info will follow w/ pics, including when I Groove this Weber.
Before/after pics--cleaned up engine compartment esp. top of engine!
Thanks Ron and also 4WD Bill for all your input to me!

PS test drove it today...wow!

Thanks Bill. I'm in the tuning process now. Stock power was fabulous, but using more fuel and exhaust is way rich.

I got an altitude jet kit couple days ago, I've dropped primary idle jet from 60 to 55, and today dropped main pri. jet from 140 to 135. Somewhat less power now and had a bit erratic operation. I am thinking to go back to 140 primary jet and going up 2 air corrector pri. sizes. The instructions w/ kit say that 3 air corrector jet sizes are worth half of a fuel jet size. So If I go back to 140 pri main fuel jet and increase air corr. jet to 190 from 170, I think that's roughly equal to a 137 fuel jet...

We'll see.

Quick update on the DGEV Weber on the EA82 Subaru engine-

Primary side: main jet stock 140 switch to 135
pri. idle jet stock 60 switch to 55
pri. air corrector jet stock 170 switch to 190

Secondary side: second. main jet stock 140
second. idle jet stock 50 switch to 45
second. air corrector jet stock 160 switch to 170

Overall car runs well, though less power now since leaned down . Exhaust cleaner now, but not THAT clean- my cat's are likely about done. Plan to Groove this week, also installed my blue bottle breather catch can. Tryin' to be methodical about it!
