TOPIC: 2009 2500 6.0 liter pickup Another groove!!!

Van Mohr brought me his 2009 2500 club cab long box pickup with a 6.0 liter.

We performed the groove on it, and then he drove about 2800 miles at 80 to 85 miles per hour.

He reported a 3-4 mpg increase, mind you his rpm's are running between 2300 and 2500 all the time.

He also pulled a trailer part of the time, and it still gained 2 mpgs with trailer hooked to it!!!!!

He is very happy with results and may want more vehicles done in the future.

Was the throttle body cable drive or computer driven, reason I'm asking is my work boss gave me the go ahead to groove the work van a 2011 6.0L GMC just wondering if there are any tips for me.

Hi Aaron, This 6.0 had a electronic throttle body.

You should probably use a scanner on yours to find out what the cold start position is before you cut the groove.

Dan Merrick has had experience with these types of throttle bodies, as they have a very little area to place the groove, but they are possible to do the groove on.

Sorry for not on board life has a way of keeping me very busy. I looked at Dan's profile it doesn't list his phone # so he will probaly come up for air after I post this message. I was supprised and also puzzled about the long list of users and a very small percentage are keepping posted on the forum so I'll try my best say on board even if you don't hear I usally take a quick on the forum every couple days or so.
