- Opened the spark gaps from my default .051" to .081".

I didn't test beyond that, might be able to go even larger. I figure this should make enough of a difference.

Will be anxious to see if any improvements in MPG or otherwise prevail.
Will post results.

here's what my spark plug(#1) looked like upon removing for the first time. The others were't quite as bad.

JV I use a wire-type plug gap guage or a round disc shaped oue with the tapered ramp on the side. I also then use pliers carefully to center the ground electrode over the center electrode.

But for a gap like 81 thou, maybe ya needed the flat feeler guages!

What brand/type plugs are those, platinum, Irridium,?? That one looked real bad, lotsa miles on those, or other issues, water/coolant getting in the chambers, water/oil emulsion from pcv/breather system, or??? Think I've seen pics like this the plug mfg's called it ash fouling, from ???

But if she runs OK after doing this, then that's OK! ;)

Is this the same car w/ the throttle plate you just re-shaped?

Looks Asian valve cover to me.

Let us know what car and results, Thanks!
