As a mechanic, I have to keep reminding myself of one thing -

DON'T OVERLOOK THE OBVIOUS AND SIMPLE THINGS!

My 2002 Olds Silhouette van has lot of original parts, but the O2 sensors finally gave out. The usual life span is 60-100K. Sometimes less, sometimes more.

If you do the groove, cap off the pcv and take care of vac leaks, your job may not be over. We need to recommend the other things that affect fuel delivery, like the O2 sensors. Even if they are "working good", if they are old, recommend replacing them. If the Thermostat is old, it also has a major effect on engine as low operating temps will affect Open/Closed loop status. The engine will change to closed loop when it reaches about 160 degrees F.

If you can replace these things for the customer, better for you and them. If you have to refer to a mechanic, they will be gratefull for the work - I know!

Remember the Big Picture!
