OK, I'm going to cross-link here to a post I made in another thread.

The post is my ideas and theory re: the Idle Air Control or IAC restriction mod.

Look in Category: Other Stuff.

thread is: Dan Merrick's Fuel Vaporiser and MPG recipe

post is: post # 22 page 2

This came up in the middle of yet another long wind discussion of things. So often nuggets of info get buried in a long thread. IF you are wanting to know more on the IAC Mod, this might help.

Agreed! Posts like this, pulling the wheat from the chaff, also help clarification for future readers, and boost search engine hits too.

Looking for information on a 4.6 liter 2 valve ford engine. Is this IAC mod the same as the chevy tbi's? Are we just taking a 1/2" hole and trying to remake a metal gasket to reduce this down to an 1/8" hole?

Ken

Hi Ken, the Chevy TBI and the Ford 4.6L are very different. I personally have never had, or heard of, good results from trying to restrict these Ford IAC valves. Ron, years ago spoke of making the metal plate out of a thin piece of aluminum sheet, and drilling a 1/8" hole in it to restrict the IAC airflow. I've just left the Ford IAC's alone.

I usually use epoxy techniques to restrict IAC flow on TB's where the IAC is integral on the TB. Where there is a passageway or port the IAC air goes through, like many older Gm TB's, and some Asian import ones
:cheer: :cheer: .
good to hear from ya, Ken!
