Hi, here's a simple way to prevent coolant from spurting out and making a mess, when removing/replacing a TB. Real simple. I use 2 small size Needle-Nose type Vice Grips on the coolant hoses.

the procedure goes like this: Locate the two coolant hoses attached to the TB. Once the filter, duct, air box, or whatever might be in the way is removed/relocated, that makes room to work. Set the vice grips to open a little when closed, say 1/8 inch open. you want to glamp the hoses enough to seal them off, yet not damage 'em. Get each vice grip in position 2-3 inches back from the hose end and clamp onto each hose. You want to be an inch or two back from where the metal nipple in the hose ends, to give room to loosen and back off the hose clamps.

So, in this order: 1.clamp each hose shut
2.Then use pliers or screwdriver to loosen the hose clamp and back it down the hose, so it is back off the part of the hose that is still on the metal tube.
3.Be sure that both hoses are clamped shut, now work the hoses off both metal tubes on the TB.
4.leave the vice grips in place while working on the TB.
5.Reinstall TB, then each hose on it's metal tube. Be sure each hose is fully over it's correct metal tube, with enough overlap on the metal tube, so the hose clamp has enough hose under it to effectively seal the hose. Note the raised lip on end of the metal tube. that will make a slight bump in the rubber hose over it.
6. Place the hose clamp in position between the bump in the hose, and the hose end, and tighten it. Do both hoses/clamps, ensure the hoses and clamps are in proper position and the clamp is snug, NOT Gorilla-tight!
7. Once the hoses are clamped back on, release the vice grips.

This is fanatical description detail--but sometimes it helps to see things broken down to small steps! Realize that hoses age, and not all are as thick/tough as others. So I check the hose's condition before I put the Vice Grips on. You want to set the vice grips closed enough to squeeze the hoses shut, NOT crush or cut 'em!

Sometimes it's easier to remove a TB with the hoses still on, then clamp 'em- it depends, right?
