Hi,
I just got off the phone with Ron. I appreciated the phone call! I am a father of 5 and a follower of Jesus. I have a newly acquired 1980 F-100 with a 302. Ron has me on a mission to get the old engine cleaned up and we will go from there. I am very excited to see how far from 13MPG I can get. Looking forward to learning.

Welcome, Rob!
That's the right thing to do - make the engine as good as it can be prior to Grooving. A good solid tune up, fresh oil and filters...you'll find these make a small, positive difference in the short term.
Given the age of the truck, I'm sure Ron was encouraging you to look for intake manifold leaks and exhaust leaks...believe me, you'll be glad you did (Just like smiling for strangers) as these will ensure that your truck takes right to the groove like a duck to water.

Please post pics of your progress - we look forward to following your journey!
