How are you? I am from Perry ga. I own a 02 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9l
Mazda Tribute 08
Honda Civic

I wouldn't call myself a mechanic. But anything that happens to any of my cars I fix it myself. I love working on engines. But there's a whole lot I just don't know.

I just got my truck and started looking on ways to get better mpgs and ran across the groove. I am very very Interested and intrigued. I love stuff like this. I Have all ready began the transformation gapped my spark plugs I added cold air intake 180 degree thermostat flushed my radiator. I have a flow master exhaust. I still have to change my O2 sensor. Now I want to move my map sensor and and a hose to my pcv vaulve for reroute. I am documenting all the changes and how it's affecting my mpgs. I can't describe how excited I truly am. After I do my reroutes I am grooving my throttle body. Looks pretty easy. I'm still trying to figure out if I'm going to pay for the license or pay someone to do it. If I get the changes like I've been seeing I want to share my experience with everyone I know. I'm in middle ga so everyone has gas eaters here lol.
Can someone point me in the right direction for the map sensor relocation and pcv reroute. All I need is pictures of someone else's Dodge Ram 5.9L and I can figure the rest out. I can't seem to find any good references for this paticar engine. I've seen the groove results on this truck just not the details of what was done under the hood.
Thank you for having me. I hope I can ad to this forum and help others as well.

Howdy Bennysjets! Welcome to Gadgetman Groove forum! I'm not sure did you and I speak on the phone a couple days ago? Anyhow, you might look in the Index tab at top left of the forum front page, in the Index there is a Dodge section, I and others have documented Grooves done to Dodge 5.9L engines, I put pics in my post there take a look. My neighbor w/ the 5.9L Dodge 4x4 truck got some decent gains w/ the Groove measured while pulling a trailer in the Sierra's. As to moving the MAP sensor. I've thought of but not done that. On the Mopar 5.9l/5.2L TB, you would need to plug the vacuum port in the TB. Then I suppose shim under the MAP sensor to get it offboard from the throttle body, or place it so there's room to stick a vacuum hose onto the MAP Sensor vacuum port, then run the vacuum hose to where you think the vacuum signal would be different from on the TB. I'd do it so I could still plug the stock wire harness plug onto the MAP. IT would be good to see pics of a MAP sensor vacuum pickup point relocation... ;)

Learning to Groove TB's is a good skill to have, you could be the go-to guy in your area w/ the backround you have. Heck, Good'Ol Boys like to save on gas costs just like anyone else, Right? I like your handle. It made me think of the Elton John song Benny and the Jets. OR maybe carburetor jets...?

Anyhow Bennysjets, Welcome aboard, I look forward to more from ya, there's some good folks here! :woohoo:

Thanks for the welcome!!!
Well what turned me on to the groove was me looking into ways to improve mpgs. I came across a gadgetman video of a 2002 Dodge Ram 5.9l. In this video he Represents himself as gadgetman Nebraska.
In this video he stated he did the groove as well as a map sensor relocation, also a spark plug gap change.

Anyhow gadgetmannebraska said all he did for the map sensor relocation. Was move the vacuum tube from the sensor and moved it to the intake manifold.
So I guess it wasnt exactly a sensor relocation, just a vacuum relocation. he said he got really good gains from the move. I was hoping to just mimick what he did.

Benysjets does come from the song. But I also love to fly Rc helicopters drones planes and jets lol.

Yeah GadgetmanNebraska is Aaron Cheek, a really good guy and accomplished Gadgetman. Though he doesn't post here much anymore, he's told me he does lurk sometimes, so if he sees this I know Aaron will smile! Yes, for the Dodge 5.9/5.2L setup, it should be simple to move the vacuum pick-up point to somewhere in the intake man. The sensor itself, can basically stay where it always did, just the vac. port on the TB gets blocked off, so the MAP can still plug into the wire harness as it already did. The other thing I figured out to do on this type TB is my epoxy fill for the IAC channel, It's pictured in my post in the Index.

Once you get your PL kit from Collette, I'd recommend practicing on, maybe a junk lawnmower carb, junk TB from whatever, etc. That's what I did to get the hang of it.

From where I sit, looking at your fleet of vehicles (and probably a mower as well), It makes more sense to get the PL kit from Collette at HQ as far as I'm concerned, Benyjets. As usual, I have to agree with TracyG about that.

...and once you're set, I hope you and gerald c connect to compare notes. You two are in the same state.

so, welcome!
