well, I guess the honeymoon is over...I've seen gas prices rise 65 cents/gal in past month at one station I look at on way from work daily. Another station, a Chevron 1 block away from the first, regular there is 63 cents a gallon higher than the first! The Chevron premium is closing in on 4 bucks a gallon... Poor 'ol oil companies, must be tough, maybe we ought to have a bake sale for 'em, or a spaghetti feed or sumthin'...

There is no reason for price creep, with a stable commodity price, other than sheer greed. It seems to be a game of "if you can't beat them, join them;" buy oil company shares for the quarterly dividends.

I heard on news or something that gasoline is getting in short supply since refineries had to switch to heating oil, due to extreme winter weather...Ok right...and there's always the old standby refinery fire story... so has anyone anywhere else seen a big rapid rise in gasoline prices??

Yes, the price has spiked about $0.20/litre here, which is about $0.60/gallon after exchange. It's still not as high as it was before the Saudis turned their taps on, and they haven't turned them off either. My guess is big oil is squeezing us to make up for their recent pain. Makes sense, seeing as they don't have much of an exit or succession plan. And it's only going to get worse...again.
